– to support and consolidate Bendigo and Central Victoria’s reputation as a centre for art, culture and creativity, and a place to source handmade local products and produce;
– to support our individual makers, artists and producers to get their name out into the world and ultimately grow their practices and businesses, and also
– to provide them with a community of like minded people to meet with and collaborate, share and learn from.
The Who of Bendigo Made
The original concept was born when Dale Harris (Graphic Designer/Owner of Studio Ink) was doing his Christmas shopping and wanted to buy a handmade gift produced locally for his wife. A central online platform he thought would have made the process very much easier- and so he went about building the first iteration of Bendigo Made!!
Bryley Savage (PR/Marketing Consultant of Friendly Savage Communications) who works with Dale on joint projects, thought it was a great idea which could benefit the whole city and region, and she set about engaging with the community, bringing the site to life and getting the Bendigo Made brand out there. The first site was launched in November 2016.
Trudy Allsopp, (retired Interior Designer) now known in very broad terms as ‘the fairy god sister’ took the reigns of Bendigo Made in August 2017 to manage, reinvigorate, and administer the project into the future.
